Interests & Hobbies

My career in development is fueled by an innate passion for technology and education. I regularly tutor individuals of all skill levels in programming, lead community workshops, and advocate for open-source software development wherever possible. I have undertaken diverse personal projects ranging from virtual reality (VR) games and graduate-level educational simulations to algorithmic trading bots and practical tools that address daily challenges for myself and others.

I view my role as a developer not just as a profession, but as a platform for continuous learning, innovation, and community contribution. Engaging in open-source initiatives and teaching others is as fulfilling to me as building software solutions, and I believe these elements are pivotal in advancing both my personal growth and the broader field of computing.

Staying active has always been important to me. My primary passion is bouldering, which I regularly pursue at local climbing facilities here in Pittsburgh. After several years of dedication, I have consistently achieved climbs in the V5-V6 range. I also enjoy hiking, belaying, and sprinting—essentially, activities that allow me to stay fit without the monotony of treadmills and traditional gym exercises, which I find less engaging.

As an active Dungeon Master for Dungeons & Dragons (5th Edition), I have led multiple campaigns over the last five years, as well as numerous one-off events and workshops. This role has sharpened my improvisational skills and developed my ability to organize and manage groups of people effectively. The leadership, creativity, and adaptability cultivated through this pastime have positively influenced my professional and academic endeavors.

While I am not as active in martial arts as I once was, it remains an integral part of who I am. I practiced and taught martial arts for over a decade before my undergraduate studies and continued as an instructor for the Tae Kwon Do and Mixed Martial Arts organizations at the University of Pittsburgh. Earning my 2nd-degree black belt is among my most rewarding achievements, and martial arts continues to shape both my physical discipline and personal philosophy.
